While the dancers raged relentlessly on the lower deck, many availed themselves of the top deck's various amenities, mainly pristine views of Lady Liberty and soothing breezes with just a hint of ocean air. As the sun set over a picture perfect eve, the band wrapped up a succinct high energy set and Mr. Bonkerz took over, sprinkling nu-disco numbers with genre favorites from the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Holy Ghost! Starting with Mike Greenfield on drums, the main act infiltrated the stage, blending nearly unnoticed with dusky disco.

Mark Reeve delivers his 3rd solo EP on Soma in typical hard hitting fashion on The Horn. Mark has become a firm favourite here at Soma and we are pleased to present yet more of his top drawer Techno. Title track ‘The Horn’ is a perfect opener for the EP and sets this tone firmly on the dance floor. Fast paced drums keep this track moving while a staccato styled synth hook opens and closes keeping the rhythm of the track on edge. Mark teases with small breaks here and there but the focus of the track is to keep bodies firmly rooted on the floor. ‘Optical’ is up next and brings a funkier edge to the EP, however, never one to let up, Mark ensures that this track is packed full of energy. His typical flowing percussion makes way for an almost discordant lead that build slowly releasing eventually with drums crashing all around. As the track powers into the break, Mark slowly brings the tension up by dropping back to the lead, once again releasing the track in full flow with pin-point accuracy. Mark never fails to disappoint when it comes to pure unadulterated Techno designed for the floor and this EP is no different. Snag the EP off beatport [HERE]

The post Mark Reeve – The Horn | EP appeared first on Officially OutRageUs.

All any DJ touching down in San Francisco needs is Nikola Baytala‘s number on speed dial. Whether you’re a frequent visitor or a virgin to the West Coast city, it’s imperative to call on him for an in-the-know tour of the City’s finest spots. Apart from underground SF expeditions, Baytala’s legacy comprises some of the most kinetic and dynamic club tracks ever released, an eclectic record collection so big it requires its own postcode and a vintage car and bike collection nicely referenced in the artwork for his first release on Pets Recordings. The Nikola Baytala EP sees Baytala explore his far reaching influences with the help of Myles Egner (with label bosses, Catz N Dogz, and fellow San Franciscans, Pillow Talk, on remix duties.) Opening track, Zero $ carves out a chugging 4×4 beat that soon becomes overrun with dark and dischordant synth tones and a stripped back bass line that buzzes with reverb. This is house at its most ominous. Catz N Dogz drag the track back into the light for the remix, filling gaps with skippy and spirited drum lines, replacing moodiness with movement. ‘Cityz Angels’ presents groove driven house at its finest, as Baytala releases and silences a mirage of keys, synths and machine vox sounds in time with the kick drum to create a complex, yet satisfying dance floor mover. Pillow Talk instantly latch onto this stylish nonchalance for their Cityz Angels (MTs Pillow Talk remix), bringing a freestyle jazz breakdown to their laidback, rhythmic rework. The Nikola Baytala EP is Baytalas first release for a number of years and his skilled, non trend-pandering formula impresses yet again. Grab it off beatport [HERE]

The post Nikola Baytala – Nikola Baytala | EP appeared first on Officially OutRageUs.

Hailing from Liverpool, James Silk has been on an absolute heat streak lately. His main intention with the music he creates/produces would have to be pleasing his audience. His openness to all genres has really enabled James to extract sounds he likes and incorporate them through his own music. Mr. Silk has delivered a great deal of work for top-tier labels such as: Berlin’s Exploited Records, Defected Records, OFF Recordings and recently Get Physical Music. His latest masterpiece ‘Please U’ brings some immediate voltage with its heart-pumping bassline and sexy melodic vocals. James has been creating some amazing work recently and I believe that this one should not be overlooked. Get Physical Music will be releasing this track on June 28th, so make sure you grab your copy and we hope you enjoy!

The post James Silk – Please U appeared first on Officially OutRageUs.
